PaaS, or platform as a service, is a cloud model in which the provider manages a larger portion of the infrastructure and application runtime environment. The team focuses on code, configuration, and data, while the platform handles selected tasks related to servers, scaling, or updates. Examples include managed application services, databases, and integration platforms. PaaS reduces some administrative work, but it does not transfer all responsibility to the provider. Access, networking, backups, monitoring, costs, and recovery methods still need to be designed. The division of responsibility depends on the specific cloud service. Explore cloud and infrastructure.
