The exchange follows a format agreed between the partners.
EDI, or electronic data interchange, is the electronic exchange of structured business documents between the systems of different organizations. It covers purchase orders, confirmations, shipping notices, invoices, and logistics information. Instead of sending a document by email and re-entering the data, the sender’s system creates a message in the agreed format and the recipient’s system interprets it automatically. Implementation requires field mapping, partner identification, validation, and the handling of acknowledgments and exceptions. EDI integrates with an ERP system and an integration layer that transforms formats and monitors the flow. Explore Astrafox software and integrations.
