I went through Canvas design school and I have implemented most powerful color sets in Tableau. To help You implement best practice fast and easy I have created Color Dress Code Tool. I don’t recommend You to use full color range. I’m usually using 40 % transparency. It looks much better with lighter colors; human eye will not feel tired when playing with the analysis.
